Ross County 0 Dundee 2
Goals in each half from Mark O'Hara and Faissal El Bakhtaoui.eased Dundee to a 2-0 win at Ross County in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
The home side made a bright start but were undone by the visitors, who move up to ninth place in the table.
New signing Chris Eagles took less than a minute of his debut to make an impression for the Staggies by firing in a low 20-yard effort after cutting in from the left - but Dundee goalkeeper Elliot Parish was well positioned to gather on the line.
However , the visitors replied within seconds at the other end with Roarie Deacon letting fly with a vicious, rising effort from almost 25 yards on the left which went narrowly over.
Eagles threatened again in the 10th minute, gliding past three players then exchanging passes at the edge of the box with Jamie Lindsay. However, he took a heavy first touch on the return ball just eight yards out and the chance was lost.
Ross Draper headed wide from an Eagles corner four minutes later - but Dundee stunned their hosts in the 18th minute when Deacon headed on a long ball and O'Hara, in space on the right, ran on to crack a superb 25-yard first-time shot which scorched past the despairing Aaron McCarey.
Dundee's Jack Hendry made a terrific surging run through the middle with little opposition on the half hour, before firing narrowly over from 20 yards, then El Bakhtaoui's swirling cross ended up bouncing on top of the bar in the 32nd minute.
Eight minutes before the interval, the visitors' Sofien Moussa shot high and wide with a clear view of goal from the right of the box.
Staggies boss Owen Coyle made an ambitious half-time substitution, bringing on Craig Curran for Kenny van der Weg.
However, Dundee emerged the stronger team and they could have had the points wrapped up inside 10 minutes of the restart,
Firstly, El Bakhtaoui lashed in an angled 52nd minute shot from distance which McCarey could only parry out to the six-yard line. Moussa and Deacon appeared to leave the tap-in to each other and the chance had gone.
Two minutes later and a deep, diagonal free-kick on the left by Jon Aurtenetxe picked out the unmarked Josh Meekings, who glanced a delicate header inches past the far post.
McCarey was busy again moments later, getting down to smother a power-packed, angled drive from O'Hara.
After substitute Billy McKay had headed narrowly over for the hosts, El Bakhtouai's powerful shot forced McCarey into a smart diving save.
Staggies manager Coyle was left clutching his head in despair with five minutes left when Jamie Lindsay lunged in to stab an effort over keeper Parish - but also over the crossbar.
And with a minute left Dundee finally extinguished County's flickering hopes of rescuing the game when Glen Kamara released El Bakhtouai with a fantastic diagonal pas - and the forward lobbed the onrushing McCarey to make sure of the points.
