Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart says retaining Philippe Clement is not financially driven
Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart has once again stated the club's decision to keep Philippe Clement as manager is not financially driven.
Stewart was speaking at the club's latest fan advisory board meeting, which took place on February 5 prior to their Scottish Cup elimination at the hands of Queen's Park.
It was put to the Ibrox chief that statements attached to previous managerial sackings cite “results haven’t met expectations”, with the belief among the fanbase that this run of results is worse than those previous.
Stewart reiterated that the decision to retain Clement as manager was not financially driven, rather it was a recognition that there was so much else to fix in the 'football department'.
Rangers' loss to Queen's Park all but ended their hopes of domestic silverware this season.
The Govan outfit are 13 points behind rivals Celtic in the Premiership with 13 games to go, having already lost to their rivals on penalties in the League Cup final.
Clement's side are through the the last 16 of the Europa League.
