Rangers look to have finally thrashed out a deal with Standard Liege to sign midfielder Nicolas Raskin.

The two sides have been locked in talks with Ibrox chiefs keen to complete a move this month.

Personal terms had already been agreed with the Belgium under-21 international but an agreement on a fee had been the sticking point.

Various reports now suggest that part of the deal has now been settled and Raskin will become a Rangers player before Tuesday's deadline.

Belgian outlet DHNet claim Michael Beale's side will pay a fee of £1.75million with a 20% sell on clause inserted into the deal.

Raskin would become their second signing of the window after Todd Cantwell sealed a move from Norwich last week.

Cantwell was thrown straight into the mix on Saturday and played 63 minutes of their 2-0 win over St Johnstone.

The 24-year old was involved in their second goal.

Rangers have also been trying to secure the signing of Swansea forward Morgan Whittaker.

There remains a stand-off between the clubs over a fee for him after he returned from a successful loan spell at Plymouth.

Earlier in the window, Beale was asked about Raskin and said: "A player I remember a lot from the time we played Standard Liege in October 2020.

"He missed the first game against Rangers that night when Kemar Roofe scored that amazing goal but he played in the second leg.

"He is a player I am aware of, a very good player who is obviously out of contract in the summer and is attracting a lot of attention. There is an interest from us but I am sure there is from a number of clubs."
