Rangers to face Panathinaikos in Champions League qualifying
Last updated 18th Jun 2025
Rangers will face Panathinaikos in the second round of Champions League qualifying.
The matches will be Russell Martin's first in charge of the Ibrox side after taking charge this summer.
He will have to negotiate three rounds of qualifying to make it into the League Phase of the Champions League.
They last competed in the Champions League in the 2022/23 season when Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team were unable to pick up a point in their group of Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax.
Panathinaikos finished second in the Greek Super League last season behind Olympiacos.
Rui Vitoria's side also competed in the UEFA Conference League where they made it to the last 16 before being knocked out by Fiorentina.
The first leg of the tie is scheduled to be played at Ibrox on 22/23 July before the return leg the following week.
Progressing past Panathinaikos will guarantee the Govan side will be playing League Phase football in one of the three European competitions.
