Rangers midfielder Kieran Dowell joins Birmingham on loan

Rangers midfielder Kieran Dowell has joined Birmingham City on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 27-year old moved to Ibrox on a free transfer from Norwich City in the summer of 2023 but has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot.

Dowell has featured 32 times for Rangers - but many of those appearances have come from the bench.

Philippe Clement has allowed the former England youth international to leave this month with it understood the same goes for Rabbi Matondo

The club posted on their official X account: "We can confirm midfielder Kieran Dowell has joined @BCFC on loan until the end of the season subject to international clearance.

Everyone at Rangers wishes Kieran well for the rest of the campaign."

Upon completing his move to the English League One side, Dowell told Blues TV: "I am buzzing to get going, it has happened really fast but I spoke to Craig Gardner and Chris Davies and they are both so ambitious.

"The lads here are absolutely flying at the moment and there is a really positive feel about the place.

"It is a good chance for me to come and play football, come and play for a team who like to dominate the ball. I have always thrived playing in teams that like to control the ball, and speaking to the Manager I was completely sold with the way he wants to play."
