Ahead of a Glasgow derby at Partick Thistle tonight Rangers skipper Lee Wallace says the team deserved to be criticised for their 'humiliating' start to the season, but now believes they are inching towards the perfect performance.

The Jags are without a league win so far this season while the Ibrox side could go top tonight if they win by at least 5 goals.

Pedro Caixinha's new-look side were left stunned back in July when they were dumped out of the Europa League by Luxembourg minnows Progres Niederkorn.

Their league campaign also got off to a shaky start as they dropped points at home to both Hibernian and Hearts.

But after picking up back-to-back wins against Ross County and Dundee, Wallace feels things are starting to click into place.

The captain said: "We absolutely didn't want the European result to happen but the early season criticism is now out the way. We've responded well to the criticism and the embarrassment and humiliation that we deserved at the time.

"But with the group gelling, the new guys learning the language and the culture, bringing their families across, getting used to how we train, getting used to the city, I think that is us all now moving forward positively.

"It's a long way to go but we're all looking forward. We're taking the small steps we need to be taking.

"There's a lot of hard work to go, a lot of gelling to be done but we're content with how things are going. We're continually working hard on the training ground to get these things going.

"The last two results have been great and now we want to keep that momentum building, to keep growing confidence and moving forward.

"There's still a few things we're not getting right and you'll hear us talking about that after games. I mentioned after the Hearts game we needed to be a bit more inventive in and around the box, so it's small details like that.

"It's about getting everything together and getting the perfection that we want to get.

"There is always things we can work on. We've got a long way to go until we're going to be happy but the last two results have been encouraging.'
