Rangers 'close in' on deal for Turkish left-back Ridvan Yilmaz

Rangers are closing in on a deal for Besiktas left-back Ridvan Yilmaz.

The 21-year old has been targeted following the record sale of Calvin Bassey to Ajax this week.

Bassey left for an initial fee of £19.6million - and that could rise by £3million with future add-ons.

The Athletic are now reporting the deal for Yilmaz 'will soon become official' as Giovanni van Bronckhorst continues to shape his squad.

Liverpool defender Ben Davies has already been drafted in following Bassey's departure.

Now Turkish international Yilmaz looks to be the final piece of the defensive jigsaw to put in place ahead of the new campaign.

Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu is reporting an agreement has been made between the two clubs.

He tweeted: "Besiktas and Rangers have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ridvan Yilmaz for a fee of 6.5 million euros and a 20% share of the profit from the subsequent sale

"Ridvan Yilmaz's representative has started negotiations with Rangers officials for contract details."

Sabuncuoğlu also claims the Ibrox side have offered the player a five-year deal.
