Rangers have appealed the red card shown to John Lundstram during their 2-2 draw against Hibs on Saturday.

The midfielder was sent off by referee Willie Collum for a challenge on Martin Boyle.

Alfredo Morelos was also given his marching orders in the match after catching Marijan Cabraja with his arm.

The Ibrox side were unable to hold onto their lead after being reduced to nine men and now sit two points behind Celtic in the Premiership.

When asked about the incident after the match, Giovanni van Bronckhorst told Sky Sports: "I think it was harsh for John Lundstram to get a red card, I think it was a foul and a yellow card but he didn't have any intention to hit him hard.

"I was surprised he was given a red card so we'll need to have a look at that one."

Rangers are also understood to have reiterated previous concerns raised to the SFA about referee Willie Collum.

Lundstram is currently due to miss Rangers' Premiership clash with Ross County this weekend and their League Cup tie next week against Queen of the South.

Hibs boss Lee Johnson also said John Lundstram's challenge was "probably a yellow".
