Rangers unsuccessful in appeal against Dujon Sterling red card

Rangers have been unsuccessful in their appeal against the red card shown to Dujon Sterling against Aberdeen.

The midfielder was sent off late in the game for a challenge on Jack MacKenzie as the Ibrox side ran out 2-1 winners on Tuesday night.

Referee Don Robertson was recommended to conduct an on-field review of his decision by VAR Greg Aitken.

However, Robertson stuck with his original decision and Sterling was ordered down the tunnel.

Philippe Clement's side launched an appeal against the call on Wednesday with a fast track tribunal set for the following day.

After the match, Clement questioned Robertson's decision.

He said: "It was a harsh decision for me. Dujon slipped and he hits the toes of the opponent.

"I didn't see until now many red cards that you touch the opponent at his toes. If I look back, I cannot remember one moment."
