Rangers have lodged an appeal against the red card shown to Dujon Sterling against Aberdeen on Tuesday night.

The midfielder was sent off by referee Don Robertson for a challenge on Jack McKenzie at Ibrox.

VAR Greg Aitken recommended an on field review, with Robertson heading to the screen to analyse his decision.

However, the official stuck with his original call and Sterling was ordered down the tunnel.

Philippe Clement's side have now appealed the decision with a fast track tribunal set for Thursday.

Speaking after the game about a possible appeal, Clement said: "Yes, that's something we need to decide as a club.

"I never make these decisions alone. It was a harsh decision for me. Dujon slipped and he hits the toes of the opponent.

"I didn't see until now many red cards that you touch the opponent at his toes. If I look back, I cannot remember one moment."
