Raith manager apologises for David Goodwillie signing
John McGlynn told the media the club would "turn the clock back in a minute" if they could on the David Goodwillie signing
Raith Rovers manager John McGlynn has publicly apologised for the signing of striker David Goodwillie.
Rovers were embroiled in a raft of controversy following the deadline day signing of the player from Clyde.
It all stemmed from Goodwillie being found to have raped a woman by a civil court in 2011.
Many supporters and sponsors, such as author Val McDermid, spoke of their outrage at the signing, with McDermid pulling her financial support from the team.
The women's side at the club rebranded and many fans refused to attend games.
"We just completely underestimated the depth of the feeling that has come from that signing." said McGlynn to the press today.
"If we could turn the clock back we would.
"Here to apologise for bringing our football club, our supporters, into the situation that we find ourselves in".
The Kirkcaldy club gaffer confirmed Goodwillie was not training and would not play for the club.
He said negotiations on the contractual side of things are being handled at boardroom level.
