Daniel Arzani says a phone call from Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers sealed his two-year loan deal with the Parkhead club.
The 19-year-old Australia midfielder impressed for his country at the World Cup finals in Russia, where he was the youngest player in the tournament, and recently moved from Melbourne City to Manchester City.
Arzani will link up with international team-mate Tom Rogic, who signed a new five-year contract at Celtic Park towards the end of last season, and who also encouraged him to make the move to Glasgow.
Speaking at Celtic's Lennoxtown training complex, Arzani said: I had a phone call from the gaffer Brendan Rodgers and he swayed my decision and convinced me to come here.
"It wasn't so much about the football, he was talking about the club, the tradition and the fan base.
"I got along with him as a person, he is a really nice guy.
"There were a couple of other clubs interested (in a loan) but we didn't really explore it at all really, once we heard Celtic were involved.
"I spoke to the gaffer and I was really excited to get started, it is such a massive club.
"Tommy Rogic had nothing but praise for the club.
"I'm here for two seasons at least and my focus is to develop as a player.'
