Partick Thistle say Dundee's original no vote should stand
Partick Thistle have claimed the Scottish Professional Football League resolution over ending the season must be shelved after seeking legal advice.
Thistle employed a QC to look at the process, which sees Dundee considering their casting vote after withdrawing their 'no' vote before it arrived with the SPFL following a technical hitch.
The Jags, who stand to be relegated from the Ladbrokes Championship if Dundee change their mind, stated the legal opinion argued the SPFL board's information might be considered a breach of duty and added: "The original vote by Dundee FC was cast in line with the SPFL's own rules and must stand, meaning that the resolution falls.''
And Thistle claim the SPFL failed to "provide sufficient information" for clubs to make an informed vote.
The Firhill club, bottom of the Scottish Championship, argue the SPFL were incorrect to claim the only way to release funds to clubs was by declaring the season over.
Thistle say current league rules allow the payment of funds as an advance of end-of-season monies.
"We would urge the SPFL to move immediately to approve loans to clubs against the monies owed to them at the season end, based on their current position in the league," the club said.
The SPFL Board is scheduled to hold a board meeting later this afternoon (Tuesday) to discuss the impasse and the controversy surrounding the voting process.
