Partick Thistle fans say PTFC Trust takeover is 'not the fan ownership we were promised'
Three Black Cats transferred their shares to the PTFC Trust
Partick Thistle supporters claim the move to transfer the majority of the club's shares to the PTFC Trust is not the 'fan ownership' they were promised.
Earlier today Three Black Cats transferred their shares over to the PTFC Trust.
Three Black cats had been set up to protect Colin Weir's Thistle related business interests and bought the majority of the club in 2019, before promising to deliver fan ownership in the future.
However, the Jags Foundation, a working group created to help with this transition, believe that promises have been broken.
Board member Ian Mackinnon said: "The PTFC Trust is not suitable to become the main shareholder.
"They don't engage with fans, they have club board members as trustees which is a conflict of interest and they have kept cancelling elections.
"This is not fan ownership.
"The deal was constructed in secret and fans haven't been consulted.
"It's a total stitch up and it's about keeping the current custodians of Partick Thistle in power, without any accountability or transparency.
"This deal has divided the fan base and created extreme bad feeling.
"If the PTFC Trustees had any self-respect they would resign now and offer themselves up for re-election and give the fans a say about who should represent them."
However, the club insist the ‘off the pitch matter is now settled’ and the focus can ‘turn back to football’.
Thistle are currently top of the Championship and travel to Falkirk on Friday.
