Our Nations League campaign is still in our hands, says Andy Robertson

Scotland captain Andy Robertson vowed to embrace the pressure of their Nations League deciders during next month's defining double-header.

Israel moved top of Group C1 after a 2-0 victory over Albania on Sunday, hours after Scotland lost 3-1 to Portugal in a friendly.

Scotland face both teams next month and a draw in Albania followed by a Hampden win over Israel would be enough to seal top spot and a guaranteed Euro 2020 play-off place if needed.

Even defeat in Albania and victory over Israel might be enough for the Scots, depending on goal difference.

Alex McLeish's men were well off form in a 2-1 loss in Israel last week and Robertson knows they have to bounce back.

"Some people can shy away from it and some people can rise to the occasion and that's what we are going to have to do,'' the Liverpool left-back said.

"We need to put in two good performances and if we do that then we get two positive results and it's job done. We need to use that as motivation instead of shying away from it.

"If we can do that and everybody can get behind us then hopefully we will have a small celebration afterwards.

"There's still six points for us to play for and if we get them, we finish top of the group. We need to take that as a positive. Don't get us wrong, Thursday was a massive disappointment, but the group's still in our hands and if we win the next two games then we finish top, and that's got to be our aim.

"That was our aim at the start and if we achieve that, it's job complete, albeit (after) a wee bit of a sticky patch.''

Scotland struggled in McLeish's 3-5-2 formation in Israel, although they were dominant in a 2-0 win over Albania with the same system weeks earlier.

The Scotland boss has some difficult decisions to make before the game in Shkoder on November 17 but Robertson hopes a full week's preparation before the Saturday encounter can help them get to grips with his demands.

"We are building and it's a very new squad but we have not got a lot of time,'' he said.

"Hopefully the next one works in our favour as we have a full week building up to the game and hopefully we can work on all the stuff we need to and be a lot better for it on the pitch.'
