Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers have been kept apart in the draw for the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.

Forty-times winners Celtic will head for Dundee United while Rangers will travel to Dundee, who ensured the last eight will be an all-Premiership affair when they beat League One side Peterhead 3-0 at Balmoor Stadium on Monday evening.

Asked about the prospect of facing Giovanni Van Bronckhorst's men at Dens Park in the next round, Dundee boss James McPake said: "First and foremost, real credit to Peterhead tonight, they were excellent in the game. It was a tough game and we're delighted to be through.

"A home tie against anyone, we would have taken before it. Look, it's Rangers, it's going to be tough, but we're just delighted to be in the quarter-finals.

"I think we've got them in the league - the games will not be too far apart - as well and it was a good game at Dens earlier in the season albeit it was a different manager.

"But look, the draw is the draw. The job tonight was to get through and we did that."

Skipper Charlie Adam added: "It's a tough game. You want to try to avoid the Old Firm, but they're in the hat, we're in the hat and that was the most important thing."

Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibernian also avoided each other with the former hosting St Mirren and the latter, who made it to last season's final, travelling to Motherwell.

The ties will be played during the weekend of March 12 and 13.
