Norwich midfielder Graham Dorrans in Glasgow to complete Rangers move

Norwich midfielder Graham Dorrans has arrived in Glasgow to complete a move to Rangers.

The 30-year-old Scotland international flew into Glasgow on Wednesday night after the English Championship club accepted a bid from Ibrox.

The midfielder's arrival is a ray of light for Rangers fans after a bleak 24 hours which saw them crash out of Europe, see winger Barrie McKay depart in an initial #500,000 deal and also suffer defeat in the Supreme Court.

The club was still reeling from their shock 2-0 defeat in Luxembourg by Progress Niederkorn when five Supreme Court judges unanimously dismissed an appeal by the liquidators of oldco Rangers, BDO, over the use of Employee Benefit Trusts (EBT) at Ibrox in the first decade of the century.

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs' binding victory has no financial relevance for the club as it stands now but the Scottish Professional Football League has come under pressure to revisit the findings of disciplinary action into Rangers in 2013, which found they had gained no unfair competitive advantage for failing to disclose the EBT payments.

Celtic stated that they were awaiting the outcome of a review, but the Scottish Football Association quickly announced it would not be opening any disciplinary action itself following legal advice.

McKay then departed for Forest a year before his contract was due to expire after being banished to train with the under-20s by manager Pedro Caixinha.

The 22-year-old has claimed he was told he was not wanted at Ibrox. McKay rejected a new contract last season and was surprised that talks did not continue.

Writing on Twitter, McKay said: "Sad to announce that after 6 years I will be leaving Rangers Football Club.

"It has been a memorable journey of highs and lows. From scoring against Peterhead in League 2, to the goal against Celtic Scottish Cup semi final. I will remember being part of the squads that managed to return Rangers to their rightful place in the top league of Scottish football and competing in Europe.

"Recently it was made clear to me that i was perhaps surplus to requirements at the club, thats football and you need to move on.

"Nottingham Forest are a massive club steeped in history and they have given me a fantastic opportunity to grow as a football amongst a competitive squad and potentially one of the most competitive leagues on world football.

"I would like to wish Rangers FC and the fantastic support all the best for the future.

"I now look forward to meeting my team mates and the challenges ahead with Nottingham Forest.'
