Hearts Manager Robbie Neilson would "love" to add Australian wonderkid Garang Kuol to his squad this January - but admits there's plenty of competition to fend off.

It comes after Kuol was spotted visiting the club's Oriam training base, and is then believed to have been taken for a look around Tynecastle.

The 18-year-old forward is being offered out by Premier League side Newcastle on loan, as they look for the Aussie to take the next steps in his development after joining from Central Coast Mariners in his homeland.

Kuol is highly thought of and even played for the Socceroos at the World Cup in Qatar.

"He's a player we're interested in so he came up for a look around with his agent," said Neilson.

"He's got a number of clubs that are very interested in him. He's a huge prospect. He's one we've known about for quite a long time because he comes from the same team as Kye Rowles was at.

"The opportunity came to speak to him so we brought him up and we'll see where it goes.

"It's still at the very early stages. It will depend what other clubs are in for him. We'd love to get him here but we'll just have to wait and see because he's an 18-year-old who has been playing at the World Cup so I'm sure there will be a lot of suitors."

Neilson is hoping to swell the number of Australia internationals in his squad to four, with Cammy Devlin, Nathaniel Atkinson and Kye Rowles already on the books .
