Motherwell game perfect chance to bounce back, says Martin Canning
Hamilton lost 4-1 to Hearts on the opening day of the season
Hamilton boss Martin Canning believes the Lanarkshire derby is the ideal match for both Accies and Motherwell to get their Ladbrokes Premiership season up and running.
Accies were beaten 4-1 at home by Hearts on Saturday while the Steelmen lost 3-0 to Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday.
Hamilton travel to Fir Park at the weekend and Canning sees it as a chance for both his side and Motherwell to make amends for opening day dismay.
"Obviously Motherwell are in the same boat as us,'' he said.
"They had a disappointing result at the weekend and both teams will be looking to try to put that right.
Not that the game needs it but that maybe just adds a little bit extra. Both teams will be looking to try to win the game.
"I watched Motherwell at Hibs on Sunday and it was probably a little bit similar to us (against Hearts) in respect that the scoreline flattered Hibs.
"It is going to be a difficult game. We know what Motherwell are good at.
"They have big boys at the top of the pitch who battle hard, who keep the ball up there, get support really well and get crosses into the box and make you defend. We need to make sure that we are at it''
Accies this week signed centre back/central midfielder Delphin Tshiembe from AC Horsens in the Danish Superliga, and non-league goalkeeper Jacob Marsden but Canning is still not finished in the transfer market.
The former Hamilton defender said: "Jacob has been in a couple of weeks with us and he adds competition for Woodsy (Gary Woods) and Ryan (Fulton) which we were looking to do.
"Delph spent a few days with us two weeks ago and we managed to get the deal done.
"We need that presence in the team and he adds that. I am still looking for another two or three and we are working hard to address the positions we feel we need to address''
