Morelos 'positive' about signing new Rangers deal, says van Bronckhorst

Alfredo Morelos could be closing in on a new Rangers deal with Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirming the forward is 'very positive' about extending his Ibrox stay.

The Colombian striker has less than a year remaining on his current contract with questions being asked whether he will stay at the club.

His manager has now given an update and says the club are working hard to ensure the 25-year old remains in Glasgow.

Van Bronckhorst told Sky Sports: "He's very positive about signing a new contract.

"We're doing our best to get Morelos signed to a new contract as well.

"Hopefully in the coming weeks, we will sort it out.

"Still the talks are ongoing."

Morelos hasn't featured for the club since March after picking up an injury.

He missed the final stages of their run to the Europa League final and the Scottish Cup final but is now back in training.

Van Bronckhorst says he is looking sharp and hopes he will return to the pitch as soon as possible.

He said: He said: "He's training with us, that's a good sign.

"He looks better and sharper every session so we're monitoring his development really close in the coming weeks because when he's fit, he's one option for me up front as well.

"We all know his quality. I'd rather him back as quick as possible."
