Mexico midfielder Carlos Pena has arrived in Glasgow ahead of his prospective move to Rangers.

The 27-year-old Chivas player is expected to follow Ryan Jack and Bruno Alves in joining Pedro Caixinha's side.

Reports in Mexico claim Pena has agreed a three-year deal although Rangers must secure a work permit for the attacking midfielder. Pena has won 19 caps and played in the 2014 World Cup but he has not played international football for almost two years, meaning he must get the backing of a panel convened by the Scottish Football Association.

Pena joined Chivas from Leon for a reported fee of about £7million in December 2015 - but he was loaned back to his former club a year later.

Reports in Mexico also claim that Rangers are still negotiating over a deal for Veracruz forward Eduardo Herrera, who played under Caixinha at Santos Laguna. The 28-year-old has nine caps but all but one was won in 2015, which would also mean Rangers would need to win a work permit appeal to complete his signing.
