Matt O'Riley has been left out of Denmark's 26-man squad for Euro 2024.

The midfielder was Celtic's standout performer this campaign as they secured a Premiership and Scottish Cup double.

O'Riley scored 19 goals and provided 18 assists across all competitions.

However, he has not done enough for international head coach Kasper Hjulmand who will head to Germany without him.

He was nominated for PFA Scotland and SFWA Player of the Year and has been linked with big European clubs over the last six months.

Atletico Madrid showed a keen interest in O'Riley in January - with the Spaniards and English Premier League sides linked with further interest this summer.

Hjulmand talked down the standard of Scottish football in a recent interview when quizzed on his good form.

He said: "You have to put it into the context of how the Scottish league is in relation to the (Danish) Superliga, the Bundesliga or Spain.

"We are fully aware of that. There are constant considerations"
