It's almost exactly a year since David Bates made the unexpected move of signing a pre-contract with German side Hamburg.
The defender was featuring regularly for Rangers under Graeme Murty, but with his deal expiring in the summer he decided his future lay elsewhere.
Since then the 22-year old has established himself as a key part of Hannes Wolf's side, while also making his breakthrough into the Scotland squad.
We decided to catch up with the former Ibrox man as he continues his German adventure.
