Sam Lammers accepts boos from Rangers fans after win over Motherwell
Rangers moved up to third place with the 1-0 victory
Rangers attacker Sam Lammers accepted the boos from the Ibrox support after their 1-0 win over Motherwell.
Michael Beale's side made it three wins and clean sheets in a row but the Gers boss told his players their performance was unacceptable.
A number of supporters had already made that clear from their viewpoint as the final whistle came as a relief to the home fans amid some sustained Motherwell pressure.
Rangers prevailed thanks to Cyriel Dessers' goal against the run of play in the 24th minute - Rabbi Matondo's shot deflected in off the centre-forward.
But they had many nervous moments in the latter stages, with Motherwell substitute Oli Shaw forcing a good stop from Jack Butland and James Tavernier clearing off the line from Blair Spittal.
Tavernier also came out on the right side of two major decisions from referee Alan Muir following tussles with Brodie Spencer in the Rangers box.
When asked if the fans' reaction surprised him, Lammers said: "The last 20 minutes or something they were pressing us, they had the better chances, so it's to be expected.
"When you win you hope to get the fans behind you but this was just not a good match for us, I think that was clear, so they let us know we have to do better.
"The way we ended the game, at home we should be more dominant.
"We have to play better football, be dominant in our own stadium every game.
"We had opportunities to go 2-0 up and make it easier for ourselves but we just have to play a higher tempo.
"We have to make it easier for ourselves, get another goal and then the world looks a lot different in football.
"The positive is that we have three points.
"It's clear we have to play better as a team, be more dominant, especially at home. But we have had a few good results in a row so that's what we have to take."
Lammers had eight shots at goal himself, most of them on target, and found Liam Kelly in good form.
"I had opportunities to score," he said. "I tried to create for the team, to start attacks. A lot of occasions this worked well but I had a few opportunities to score myself so I am a little disappointed this didn't work out for myself and the team."
