Kilmarnock striker Kyle Lafferty has left the club by mutual consent.

The Northern Ireland has made the shock move to leave Rugby Park on transfer deadline day.

Lafferty scored just three goals in 17 appearances this season and also served a ten-match ban for using sectarian language.

In a short statement, the club said: "It’s with regret that Kyle Lafferty and Kilmarnock Football Club have parted company by mutual consent. We thank Kyle for his service to the club."

The 35-year old rejoined the club last January and scored crucial goals to help them win promotion to the Premiership.

He made the decision to stay on over the summer but has had a disrupted season due to suspension.

Derek McInnes had also made the move to add competition in the front line with Kyle Vassell joining at the start of the window.

Scott Robinson has also returned to fitness.
