Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic is making sure to not look too far ahead as the club close in on their first competitive matches of the season.

Brendan Rodgers' side played two separate friendlies on Tuesday at their camp in Austria, beating BW Linz and Sparta Prague.

They will now face Shamrock Rovers before heading back to Glasgow ahead of their Champions League qualifiers against Armenian side Alashkert next week, but while excited to return to competitive action, Simunovic is happy to take things slowly.

"I am looking forward to it (qualification) and very positive about it,'' he told Celtic TV.

"We have to go day by day and game by game, we cannot look too far forward, every next game is the most important and we have to prepare in that way.'
