Rangers striker Jermain Defoe will join the club's management team along with David McCallum, Brian Gilmour and Colin Stewart as their hunt for a new boss continues.

The Ibrox side have put an interim group of staff in place as interviews continue to find Steven Gerrard's replacement.

Defoe took up a joint playing and coaching role with the club this season but has yet to make an appearance this term.

McCallum is the current manager of the club's B team who play in the Lowland League while Gilmour is an academy coach.

Stewart is the club's goalkeeping coach and will also assistant with first-team matters.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst remains the front-runner for the job after flying in for talks with Ross Wilson over the weekend.

The former Dutch international is believed to be part of a three-man shortlist.

Rangers' next match is against Hibernian in the semi-finals of the Premier Sports Cup on Sunday.
