Jack Ross frustrated by derby draw
St Mirren boss Jack Ross was left frustrated after Morton came from behind to grab a well-deserved point against the Ladbrokes Championship leaders at Cappielow.
Winger Lewis Morgan opened the scoring for the visitors in the 25th minute of a fast-paced Renfrewshire derby but Jim Duffy's side fought back and skipper Thomas O'Ware headed in the equaliser from a corner 10 minutes from time.
The Buddies are now only three points ahead of second-placed Dundee United, whom they beat 2-0 in Paisley on Friday night.
Jack said: `In fairness, I thought Morton were good in that second half. They put us under pressure and I wasn't sure how much of an impact the fact we played on Friday while Morton's game at the weekend was off would have.
`Maybe we were a little leggy after the first half but we were really good before that and our performance reflected where we think we are as a group.
`So I'm a little bit frustrated that we didn't press home the advantage we had during that period and, on the flip side, I'm disappointed that we got until 10 minutes to go before we conceded such a soft goal.
`We'd withstood a fair bit of pressure before that and looked as though we'd seen it through.'
Morton have won one and drawn two of their three games against their local rivals this season with Duffy pleased at the way his side responded after the break.
He said: `I thought we played really well in the second half, although St Mirren were the better side in the first.
`You can understand that because they're top of the league and coming into this game on the back of beating Dundee United.
`They came out flying and full of confidence so we had to roll our sleeves up and make sure we stayed in the game and we did that. Then, after the break, we showed our qualities.'
