Hibs have signed Celtic's Ewan Henderson on a loan deal until the end of the season, with the midfielder set to make the move permanent in the summer.

The Hibees confirmed the 21-year-old attacking player has agreed to sign a three-year contract at the end of the current campaign.

Henderson came through the youth ranks at Celtic Park - while current Hibs boss Shaun Maloney was a coach there - and has represented Scotland at various age levels.

He has spent time on loan at Dunfermline and Ross County, while also making a few appearances in the first team at the Glasgow club.

He's also the brother of Hibees Scottish Cup winning hero Liam Henderson.

Hibs Manager Shaun Maloney said: “Ewan is an extremely talented player. He has superb awareness and vision, he’s creative and will provide assists.

“He’s a player I really want to help to develop so he can show the league the talent he has.

“As a club, we look forward to helping Ewan develop so he can achieve his potential over the coming years.”

The capture of Henderson at Easter Road comes a day after the club announced the signing of Norwegian teenager Elias Melkersen.

Celtic meanwhile began the January transfer window with the triple signing of Japanese players Yosuke Ideguchi, Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate.
