Harkins Back At Dundee
HARKINS BACK AT DUNDEE Dundee have signed playmaker Gary Harkins for the third time, the Dens Park outfit have announced. The 29-year-old was released by St Mirren on Friday after an ill-fated stint in Paisley last season saw him sent to Oldham on loan. However, he joined his new team-mates on Monday morning for pre-season training after penning a two-year deal. Dee boss Paul Hartley told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to get him in. It's another quality player for us. He knows the club after a good period here. "You can never have enough good midfielders. He'll add a lot of creativity. "I'm a long-time admirer of him and I'm looking forward to working with him." Harkins first signed for Dundee back in 2009 after the club made a successful £150,000 bid to tempt the former Blackburn Rovers youth from Partick Thistle. But he moved on to Kilmarnock for an undisclosed fee two years later after the club was plunged into administration. After falling out with then Killie boss Kenny Shiels, Harkins returned to Tayside in January 2013 but could not help the Dens Park side escape relegation from the Scottish Premiership. They have bounced back at the first attempt after new boss Hartley led the club to the Championship crown in his first season in charge and Harkins will now join up with fellow new recruits Kevin Thomson, James McPake, Scott Bain, Philip Roberts, Greg Stewart and Simon Ferry as they look to cement their top-flight place this term.
