Harald Brattbakk: Brendan Rodgers has proven he can be Celtic success

The 50-year old is linked with a potential return to Celtic as Ange Postecoglou's successor

Former Celtic striker Harald Brattbakk thinks Brendan Rodgers has the edge over other contenders in the running for their managerial vacancy because of his proven success with the club.

Parkhead officials have held talks with Rodgers about a potential return after Ange Postecoglou left for Tottenham last week.

The 50-year has faced backlash from some supporters after leaving in the middle of the season to take the Leicester City job in 2019.

However, Rodgers won all seven available trophies during his time in Scotland.

Speaking on the controversy, Brattbakk said: “I think any situation that occurs with managers or players is possible to solve.

"Because if the manager has the qualities to perform and do a good job, I don’t see that as a problem.

“Obviously it needs to be possible to work around. You couldn’t come in with an open wound and leave it open. You would need to close it at some point.

“I guess those wounds are closed now.

“At the end of the day, the only thing that works for Celtic next year is looking for another Treble.

“Having the best manager to do that is important.

“Brendan has proved himself for years now as a manager.

“It would be less risk to choose him than someone who doesn’t have a name because he has a proven record. I think he would do a good job.”
