Hamilton are vowing to defend Brian Rice against a notice of complaint handed to him by the Scottish FA.

The Accies boss took aim at referees and the media in a furious post-match press conference after their Scottish Cup loss to St Mirren.

The 57-year old has now been cited by the governing body for his comments, with the club saying they'll take the fight to the Scottish FA.

In a statement they said: "Hamilton Academical Football Club can confirm that it has received a Notice of Complaint from the Scottish FA Compliance Officer relating to our Head Coach Brian Rice for the alleged breach of disciplinary rules 72 & 77 on Saturday, 3rd April.

"The club and Brian will defend his case".

During the x-rated rant last week, Brian Rice said:

I don't know what a penalty is. I saw the same referee today, at Dumbarton, not give Dumbarton a penalty but gave a penalty here for less.

"That's what I saw. And I'm not shouting at you lads, it's just because I'm angry. Because we're getting nothing. Absolutely nothing.

"And I'm fed up phoning Crawford Allan and being f*g shoved to the side because we're only Hamilton.

"That's what's happening. I've phoned Crawford Allan three times in 40 years.

"I just get shoved to the side, 'ah it's only Hamilton.

"Same referee today didn't give a penalty at Dumbarton but the ball went over the bar. They've given a penalty there (to St Mirren) when the ball went over the bar.

"Tell me, am I paranoid?

“What would I like him to do? I would like him to take us seriously. To give us a fair crack of the whip just like everybody else - because we are not getting a fair crack of the whip. I don’t care what anybody says".
