Hamilton accept Preston bid for captain Devlin
Alex Neil has made an approach to link up with the defender again
Hamilton have accepted a bid from Preston for their captain, Michael Devlin.
The central defender is now set to team up with former Accies boss Alex Neil at the Sky Bet Championship club.
The 24-year-old's Hamilton contract is due to expire at the end of the season and Aberdeen had declared their interest in signing the defender.
A statement from the Ladbrokes Premiership club read: We now have a financial agreement with Preston North End for the transfer of Michael. The player has been granted permission to visit Deepdale and discuss terms.
"In the event that Michael departs in this window it will be with the club's best wishes.
"He has been an outstanding graduate from our academy and an inspiring club captain.''
Devlin has not played since suffering cruciate ligament damage on the final day of last season but had recovered from his knee injury before his comeback was delayed by a chest problem. He had targeted a return to action before the end of January.
Preston manager Alex Neil worked with Devlin when he was Hamilton manager, and is looking at bringing in his second Scottish Premiership player of the window after signing Louis Moult from Motherwell.
