The striker was dropped from the Rangers squad due to concerns over his commitment and fitness

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed he has held positive talks with Alfredo Morelos.

The striker was dropped from the Rangers squad last week over concerns about his fitness and commitment.

It came just days after the Colombian was shown a straight red card for lashing out at Hibs defender Marijan Cabraja.

Morelos wasn't selected as part of their squad to face PSV in their crucial Champions League play-off match in Eindhoven.

He was also suspended for their 4-0 win over Ross County in the Premiership and Wednesday's 3-1 win over Queen of the South in the Premier Sports Cup.

Van Bronckhorst has now said talks with Morelos have gone well and he expects him to play a big part for them this season.

He said: "I had a good chat with him on Sunday.

"He had a good week to train and think about his future.

"I had a good talk with him so, as I said before, he's still a Rangers players.

"I think he's going to be important for us in the next months and this season.

"I saw a change in his attitude and the way he worked.

He has to keep continuing working like this for the coming months to be the player he can be and a player who can give us a lot."
