Steven Gerrard praises 'bright spark' Scott Wright
The forward bagged a goal in their 3-0 win over Livingston
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says Scott Wright could have played his way into a starting spot for their Champions League qualifier against Malmo.
The 23-year old came off the bench to grab a goal in their 3-0 in over Livingston on the opening day of the Premiership season.
He replaced the injured Ianis Hagi who is now a doubt for Tuesday's crucial European qualifier.
However, Steven Gerrard says the former Aberdeen man showed he's capable of stepping up to the place.
Gerrard told Sky Sports: "Scott could have started today. I think his performances in pre-season have been outstanding.
"We're working on him a lot in the final third in trying to get numbers into his game.
"I thought he came on today and he was a right bright spark. Full of energy, he sees a pass, he's always looking forward and looking to penetrate.
"He's quick and he got his rewards from another strong performance.
"He's really in my thinking for Tuesday".
Ianis Hagi scored the opening goal and Kemar Roofe rounded off the 3-0 victory at Ibrox.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was happy with spells of the game - but says they needed to be more consistent in their quality throughout.
He said: "I thought from the first whistle until we went 1-0 up we were terrific.
"We played with a real urgency and intensity that Livingston struggled to live with.
"I thought our mentality changed after that. We complicated the game a little bit and everybody was taking that extra touch.
"It gave Livingston a chance to breathe.
"From 2-0 to the end of the game I thought we were excellent again - so it was just that middle part where we needed to take less touches and keep testing the goalkeeper".
