Fans will get to experience Hearts' first game on their home ground this afternoon, following a last-minute safety approval this morning.

The club was granted a temporary occupation certificate yesterday but approval of the upgraded stadium was not confirmed until a final safety check was carried out earlier today.

The redevelopment of the main stand was originally scheduled for completion in September but it is understood work to get the facility up to scratch continued well into yesterday evening.

Delays in finalising the renovation works meant Hearts have been forced to play their home games this season at Murrayfield.

Hearts boss, Craig Levein, says he now hopes a run of home games will give the Jambos the chance to move up the Premiership table.

Kick-off for Hearts' game against Partick Thistle at Tynecastle is at 3 o'clock this afternoon.
