Ian Durrant has backed former team-mate Kris Boyd to keep on scoring for years to come after the Kilmarnock striker was awarded a testimonial.
Boyd is in his 10th season at Rugby Park and has scored 134 goals over three spells with the club.
The 34-year-old was the top goalscorer in the Ladbrokes Premiership last season and has hit four goals so far this term ahead of Sunday's Betfred Cup tie with Rangers.
Durrant, who played with Boyd for Killie and then coached him at Rangers, said: “He's just a goalscoring machine. He has achieved everything.
“Even as a kid, he just wanted to score goals. I remember one time we used to train down at Ayr and it wasn't the biggest pitch in the world, but I just saw this boy in the opposition half and he hit the ball and it just flew into the top corner.
“Even at 15, you knew the boy could score goals and he has just carried on ever since.
“You can see even now, every time he scores a goal, he just loves doing it. If his body allows him, I am sure he will keep on doing it for a couple more seasons.
“People have written him off but last season he was the top goalscorer in Scotland. It's testament to how he has worked.”
Boyd's testimonial events start with a sportsman's dinner in Glasgow on September 8 and a match will form part of Kilmarnock's 150th anniversary celebrations next year.
