Dundee boss McCann happy with first clean sheet of the season
The 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock cut out a run of five straight defeats
Dundee boss Neil McCann praised his players' attitude after they stopped their losing streak despite going down to 10 men.
McCann feared the worst after Darren O'Dea received a second yellow card five minutes before the end of their Ladbrokes Premiership encounter with Kilmarnock at Dens Park.
But Dundee held on for a goalless draw to record their first point in six matches and McCann was positive after the game.
“Towards the end when you go down to 10 men you just fear the worst,” he said. “It's always tough when that happens but I'm so pleased for the lads to get this point.
“It's our first clean sheet of the season which we're obviously delighted about.
“Elliot (Parish), our keeper, has a great save in the dying minutes which keeps us in it.
“The players have been working ever so hard to try and turn things round so hopefully this is just the result we've needed to start that.
“The boys' attitude has been great recently. It's not for want of effort and I have lots of faith in them.”
Parish denied substitute Lee Erwin late on before another Kilmarnock substitute, Eamonn Brophy, headed against the bar in stoppage-time.
Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke said: “We had a couple of big chances at the end so can feel a little bit hard done by not to go home with three points.
“When Lee Erwin is through one-on-one with the keeper, you'd expect him to score, and then young Eamonn hits the bar.
“The challenge is now to try and turn this good away form into our home matches and try and get a win next Sunday against Aberdeen.
“The boys have been doing well and their attitude is great.
“This wasn't a great game but we'll move on and try to keep progressing."
