Dundee 1 Motherwell 3
Dundee remain rooted to the foot of the Ladbrokes Premiership table after suffering a fourth straight defeat at the hands of Motherwell at Dens Park.
Neil McCann's side endured another frustrating afternoon as Stephen Robinson's visitors secured their first Premiership win of the new campaign, with goals in the second half from Danny Johnson, Gael Bigirimana, and Allan Campbell rendering Benjamin Kallman's 71st-minute header for the Dark Blues meaningless.
It now means Dundee have lost all four of their league games this season and face a battle to try and climb the table.
New Dundee signing Kenny Miller began the game alongside Finland international Kallman after his move to Tayside earlier in the week.
But they faced a Motherwell side buoyed by last Sunday's dramatic 3-3 draw with Rangers which saw them equalise in injury time.
It was a lively enough start from two sides occupying the bottom two spots in the table.
After 28 minutes the visitors had a decent opportunity to break the deadlock. Johnson did his bit by playing the ball into the path of strike partner Curtis Main.
The big forward was in space and looked all set to at least test home keeper Jack Hamilton but instead he dragged his shot wide of the target much to the Steelmen's frustration.
At the other end, Miller was trying to get involved and almost got clear of the visiting defence after 38 minutes.
Jesse Curran hit a searching pass forward looking for the former Scotland international and he nearly got there, only for Trevor Carson to race off his line and smother.
The second-half pattern stayed much the same with Motherwell on top and they took the lead after 56 minutes.
Substitute Elliott Frear's cross from the left was missed by Genseric Kusunga who slipped inside the box.
The ball landed at the feet of Johnson who took a touch before smashing a left-foot shot low into Hamilton's far corner.
Then, after 68 minutes, Motherwell went 2-0 up. Dundee substitute Calvin Miller conceded a foul, and from the resulting free-kick, Bigirimana's effort from 25 yards was deflected by the Dundee wall before beating Hamilton.
Dundee did pull one back after 71 minutes when Kallmann headed Miller's corner high into the net but it did not count for much as Campbell struck the killer blow four minutes from time.
