Declan John delighted to join Rangers
New Rangers recruit Declan John admits he did not have to think twice about making his Ibrox switch.
The Wales international has agreed a one-year loan move to Glasgow from Cardiff.
Gers boss Pedro Caixinha had only Lee Hodson as cover for first-choice full-backs Lee Wallace and James Tavernier and hopes John will now be able to challenge skipper Wallace for a starting slot.
John - who has two caps for Chris Coleman's Wales - has found himself out of favour under new Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock.
But he jumped at the chance to join the Light Blues.
He told RangersTV: "I'm delighted. It's such a massive club and as soon as I heard it was Rangers that had come in for a loan deal it was a yes straight away from me.
"It was a little bit of a surprise to hear Rangers were in for me. Football can be crazy, especially around the last few days of the transfer window."
John is likely to be the only new arrival checking in at Ibrox before the midnight transfer deadline.
Gers sources have shot down rumours suggesting Rangers are set to offer out-of-favour Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack a return to the club where he started his career.
And Press Association Sport also understands Gers chiefs have not yet returned with a fresh bid for Hearts playmaker Jamie Walker, contrary to reports on Thursday morning.
Caixinha remains keen on a player he tried to sign earlier this summer but is not prepared to meet the Jambos' £1million asking price.
Unless Tynecastle chiefs reduce their valuation, Caixinha is willing to wait until January when he is confident he will land the 24-year-old on a pre-contract.
Young centre-back David Bates, however, may head out on loan as he seeks further first-team exposure
