Dave Cormack asks FM to delay Covid attendance restrictions
Aberdeen FC Chairman Dave Cormack has made a public appeal for the Scottish Government to delay limits to attendance at football grounds by 24 hours
Aberdeen Chairman Dace Cormack has publicly asked the First Minister to consider delaying one of the new Covid restrictions.
From boxing day only 500 fans will be allowed to attend football matches.
This measure will be in place for three weeks, although could be extended should the public health situation require it.
As a result clubs have voted to bring forward the annual winter break in the Scottish Premiership.
The pause will now commence following the boxing day fixtures, leaving those games - in the case of Aberdeen, a home fixture against Dundee - as the only games that will be held under the conditions - at least for now.
But Cormack has tweeted Nicola Sturgeon, asking she and the Scottish Government consider pushing back the introduction of the limits until after the games are played.
Cormack said:
"@NicolaSturgeonOn behalf of Scottish football fans, including those home for Xmas who plan ahead to attend games with their families, we at Aberdeen FC respectfully ask the FM to consider delaying the 500 fan limit on Boxing Day until midnight on 26th.
"Thank you in advance."
Three Premiership games have been played tonight (December 22) including Aberdeen's trip to Hibs, without any limits on crowd size.
