Darren Young to leave Albion Rovers at the end of the season
Albion Rovers have announced that manager Darren Young will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
The Ladbrokes League One club, who faced Celtic in this season's William Hill Scottish Cup, say they have not been able to reach an agreement for a new contract.
Young is reported to have been shocked to discover the news in a letter through the post this week.
Chairman Ronnie Boyd said in a statement: "Albion Rovers FC wishes to announce that at the end of the season manager Darren Young will be leaving the club after terms for a contract for next season could not be agreed. Darren will remain in charge to ensure the club's League One position.
"Darren leaves with the club's best wishes and thanks for what he has done for Albion Rovers over the past three years.
"The club will now begin the process to find Darren's successor."
Young led Rovers to the League Two title in 2015 and they sit seventh in League One with two games left.
Victory at Brechin on Saturday could give them an outside chance of a promotion play-off place if other results go their way, although they are technically not yet safe from the relegation play-offs.
