St Mirren boss Tommy Craig confirmed the club are hoping to tie up another loan signing from English champions Manchester City.
The Buddies have already secured teenage defender Ellis Plummer on a one-year deal from Manuel Pellegrini's youth ranks.
Now they are closing in on 20-year-old winger Adam Drury after impressing the City chiefs with their Ralston training base and smooth St Mirren Park playing surface.
The Saints manager said: We expressed an interest in Adam some time ago and Man City have been delighted with how Ellis Plummer has got on since coming up.
They came up with him, viewed the training ground and the pitch at the stadium and decided this was the place for him.
Since then they have given us the nod that Adam is keen to follow too. At this moment in time there is nothing happening but within the next 24 hours we could see another Manchester City player here.''
The Paisley outfit host Hamilton on Wednesday after losing their opening game of the Scottish Premiership season 1-0 at Motherwell, despite playing the Steelmen off the pitch for most of the match.
Craig refused to discuss the sending off of player/coach Jim Goodwin for a second yellow card after he planted his forearm into the back off John Sutton's neck.
But he did tell his players they need to discover how to kill opponents off before they endure another nightmare start like last season, when they went eight games without a win.
The reaction to Saturday has actually been very good,'' said Craig, who replaced former boss Danny Lennon during the summer.
The guys came in on Monday morning and they were full of beans.
They know they should have went on to win the game. They certainly played well enough to win the game.
Our performance was outstanding at times but we conjured up another defeat when we should have won.
Motherwell have this knack of carving out results, even if they are not playing well - that's what we need to find.
We need to find that winning mentality. There's no point playing like we did if you don't get the three points.
If I have got one beef with St Mirren from my time here is that we might go win-win or win-draw. But we can't string eight or nine results together like Motherwell do.''
