Craig Clay leaves Motherwell to join Leyton Orient
Midfielder Craig Clay has left Motherwell to join Leyton Orient.
The 25-year old is returning to the Vanarama National League a year after gaining promotion with Grimsby, from where he moved to Fir Park.
Clay played 39 games for Motherwell and had a year left on his contract but featured less after Stephen Robinson took over in March and dropped further down the pecking order over the summer.
Robinson told the club's official website: "Craig is a good lad, was popular around the club and gave everything whilst he was here.
"However, I have a lot of competition for places in that area of the park, particularly around our young talent, and I wanted to open up that pathway. In turn, we will look to reinvest some of the budget into other areas of the team.
