Covid-19 testing requirements for players to be relaxed from Monday
Players and staff will only need to take lateral flow tests on matchdays
Covid-19 testing for players and staff at football clubs in Scotland is to be relaxed from Monday.
The Scottish FA and SPFL's Joint Response Group have released a statement saying club employees will only need to be lateral flow tested on matchdays from next week.
Players and staff will only be required to tests on non-matchdays if they are symptomatic.
The JRG intend to follow the progress in the hope of eventually moving to symptomatic testing only.
Supporters will no longer need to go through spot checks for vaccine passports either, but fans will still be encouraged to take a lateral flow test before attending games.
A JRG statement: "Following confirmation from the First Minister that Scotlandâs legal COVID-19 restrictions will end on March 21, the Joint Response Group (âJRGâ) has updated the Scottish football protocols.
"From next Monday, 28 February, clubs will be required to carry out Lateral Flow Tests on a matchday for all playing and team staff. On non-matchdays, clubs will only be required to test symptomatic players and staff, but they may, of course, supplement this minimum requirement with an additional testing programme should they wish.
"The JRG will review the data from the matchday testing regime over the coming weeks, with a view to moving to symptomatic testing only.
"With the Scottish Government also ending the passport scheme on 28 February, clubs will also no longer be required to spot check supporters for vaccination status from that date. We would continue to recommend that supporters take a LFT before leaving home on matchdays."
