Clint Hill among players set to leave Rangers at end of season
Veteran defender Clint Hill has been told his time is up at Rangers.
Manager Pedro Caixinha is holding a series of meetings with his players this week to spell out who is part of his plans for next season.
And the 38-year-old Hill is the first to learn he does not feature in the Ibrox boss' thoughts and will not be offered a new deal when his current contract expires at the end of the month.
Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos will also depart after his failed Gers switch.
Hill signed a one-year deal last summer after putting plans to retire on hold and has made 31 appearances during a nightmare campaign for the Light Blues.
However, the former Stoke, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forrest centre-back ensured he will be fondly remembered by the Gers faithful after a series of gritty displays - capped off by his last-gasp equaliser at Celtic Park back in March.
The news will come as a blow after Hill admitted just last week he hoped to win a fresh deal.
Speaking before Sunday's 2-1 win over Partick Thistle, he said: "We might know early next week. That's all I know and hopefully if you ask me that question this time next week I might have an answer for you.
"I've made it clear if there is a contract to be had then I would love to stay here. I have enjoyed my time here, although it has been a very difficult season here as a club and as a team.
"I have enjoyed my experience here and it has been an honour to play in front of such a big crowd, and it's something that will live with me for a long time."
Senderos was also signed last summer as part of former boss Mark Warburton's 11-strong summer influx. He was sent off on his debut in Gers' calamitous 5-1 Old Firm defeat to Celtic back in September and made three further appearances.
Meanwhile, midfielder Emerson Hyndman has returned to parent club Bournemouth after being ruled out for Rangers' final three games of the season with a foot injury.
The American signed on loan back in January and scored four goals during his 17 appearances north of the border.
Hyndman sent out a message of thanks to the Rangers support, saying: "Unfortunately I'll be missing the remainder of the season due to injury.
"I had an incredible time here at Rangers and I am thankful I had the opportunity to represent such a massive club.
"Thank you to my team-mates, staff and supporters for making my short stay at Ibrox a memorable one."
