Chris Erskine 'embarassed' by Thistle player of the year nomination
The midfielder called for the ceremony to be scrapped
Partick Thistle's Chris Erskine says he feels "embarrassed'' after being named as one of the candidates for the club's player of the year award.
Midfielder Erskine was one of four nominees, alongside Tomas Cerny, Conor Sammon and Blair Spittal for the end-of-season award, with the club sitting bottom of the table.
The Jags finished sixth in the Premiership last season, but are threatened by relegation with just five games to go in the campaign.
They face a crucial game against Accies on Saturday that could go some way to reviving their campaign, but Erskine has called for the award to be scrapped after such a poor season.
Erskine, who has scored six times this season, posted on Twitter: "Genuinely embarrassed to be nominated for this.
"With the season we have had, the POTY for the first team should be scrapped.'
