Chris Burke calls time on Kilmarnock career
The winger is looking for a new challenge after knocking back an offer to stay at Rugby Park
Chris Burke has turned down an offer to stay at Kilmarnock as he looks for a new chapter in his playing career.
The 38-year old had been offered a coaching role by Derek McInnes following their return to the Premiership.
However, the winger has decided his future lies elsewhere.
The former Scotland international scored twice in 38 appearances for Kilmarnock this season.
He told Sky Sports: "I went away on holiday and gathered my thoughts. I got offered a coaching role at Kilmarnock and a fantastic opportunity that I was given.
"I have a great relationship with everyone at the club but it was probably just the wrong job at the wrong time for me.
"Once I reflected on what I wanted to do, I still have a burning desire to play football and be competitive at first team level.
"I had a great five seasons and can't speak highly enough of the football club but sometimes fairytales do end."
