Callum McGregor opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a calm finish and Celtic dominated before Scott Sinclair made it two from the penalty spot five minutes into the second half.

Celtic could have had more as they set up a final against Aberdeen but Rangers showed some signs of fight in the final half hour, with Kenny Miller coming close on several occasions.

STAR MAN

Celtic winger Patrick Roberts gave Rangers a torrid time and was involved in the counter-attack which saw substitute Leigh Griffiths win the penalty following a rash challenge from James Tavernier. Celtic had several impressive performers but the on-loan Manchester City player's skill made him stand out.

VIEW FROM THE BENCH

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers made several big calls, including picking Roberts and McGregor ahead of James Forrest and the fit-again Tom Rogic, and both more than justified their selection. Pedro Caixinha started off with a 4-4-2 formation with Kenny Miller in midfield, but Rangers could not trouble Celtic at all in the first half and did not even press effectively. He made two changes at the break and put Miller up front, which eventually helped, although Celtic's penalty had made it a bridge too far before then.

TREBLE CHANCE

Celtic's victory puts them one match away from completing the treble. Aberdeen stand in the way of Brendan Rodgers joining Jock Stein and Martin O'Neill as the only Celtic managers to secure a clean sweep of domestic trophies in a season.
