Celtic set to sign the top scorer from Japan's J-League

Vissel Kobe tweeted news of a deal about to be agreed.

The top scorer in Japanese football, Kyogo Furuhashi, is heading to Celtic according to his club Vissel Kobe.

Kobe have posted on social media a deal is in place for the Japanese international who has scored 14 goals in 20 J-League gamesto move to Glasgow.

A statement on Vissel Kobe's website said: "We are pleased to announce that we have reached a basic agreement between the clubs regarding the complete transfer of forward Kyogo Furuhashi, 26, to Celtic FC, which belongs to the Scottish Premiership.

"In the future, a formal contract will be signed after undergoing local medical checks".

He's expected to become the fourth signing for new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Local reports say the agreed fee could be as much as £5million - which would be close to a record sale for any Japanese club.

Sheffield Wednesday duo Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide have already joined the club while Israel winger Liel Abada joined for a fee in the region of £3.5million.

Swedish defender Carl Starfelt could also seal his move to Parkhead over the weekend after undergoing a medical in Moscow.
